What is inside the starter package?

The names may vary slightly, but the structure should look similar.

Double-click the Windows or macOS launcher to open the app in the recommended browser.

Contains the company-specific token file used to unlock the licensed plan.

Important

Do not run the app directly from inside the ZIP file. Always unzip the package first.

Step 1

Unzip the package

Save the ZIP file to your computer, then extract it. Open the extracted folder before you do anything else.

•Do not launch XSTRAT from inside the ZIP.

•Keep the folder structure unchanged if possible.

•If your IT team shared the package on a network drive, copy it locally first if performance is slow.

Step 2

Start XSTRAT

Use the launcher for your operating system. If the launcher does not work, open the HTML app manually from the App folder.

Windows: double-click "Start XSTRAT - Windows.bat"

macOS: double-click "Start XSTRAT - macOS.command"

Fallback: open "App / XSTRAT_App.html" in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

Step 3

Follow the setup wizard

When XSTRAT opens, the setup wizard guides you through the first-run process. Start by selecting your preferred language.

•Choose EN, DE, FR or IT.

•Review the browser compatibility message.

•The setup wizard is designed to make first use easier without changing the app’s core functionality.

Step 4

Upload your access token

Your company token activates the licensed XSTRAT plan. In the wizard, use the token step to upload or replace the token file.

•Open the Tokens folder in the starter package.

•Select the company token file you received.

•If the company upgrades its plan later, use the same step to upload the new token.

Important

The token file should not be edited manually.

Step 5

Connect a database

Next, connect the database that XSTRAT should use. On first use, this may be an existing file from the Databases folder or a new file you choose to create.

•Use “Reconnect last database” if you already worked with the app before and the browser allows it.

•Use “Choose another database” to open a different department or project database.

•Use “Choose save target” if you want to define where the working file should be stored.

⚠️

Shared database safety

If a database is stored on a shared drive, only one person should edit it at a time unless your organisation uses an agreed locking or version-control process.

Step 6

Start using XSTRAT

Once the wizard is complete, the main workspace opens. You can begin entering data, reviewing content, and saving your work.

•Save regularly.

•Create backups before major updates.

•Use the Exports folder for summaries and reports when needed.

Switch language

Use the language selector to move between EN, DE, FR and IT at any time.

Replace token

If your company receives a new plan, open Setup and upload the replacement token.

Switch databases

You can reconnect the last-used database or connect another department or project database.

Back up your work

Before major changes, save a copy in the Backups folder so you can roll back if needed.

Troubleshooting

The launcher does not open the app.

Open the file "App / XSTRAT_App.html" manually in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

The app asks for a token.

Go to the token step in the wizard and upload the company token from the Tokens folder.

I cannot find my database.

Check the Databases folder first. If needed, choose another database location or reconnect the last-used database.

I need to work with another department.

Use the database step or Setup options to connect a different database file.
